Chicken Coop Sunset with Bridgeport Teachers to Celebrate the End of the Their School Year (Taco Spread for the Win).

My day started on campus with all three of the others who were on campus. Since Covid, the University went on-campus optional for staff on Fridays so it is a ghost town. Of course Anne and I were there, both working on different projects (and lord knows I will miss her when she's gone. She always brings collegiality and companionship to the work).

The summer notebooks are created, and I loaded them all back in the office. I also started getting donations in memory of a woman who recently passed who left a note for her relatives and friends to do so. She was a naturalist and a writer, but I didn't know her. It is an honor to have my young writers randomly chosen.

I came home in the afternoon to pack up Karal and head to New Haven to Possible Futures, because I had several book orders to pick up. Always wonderful to see Lauren Anderson and the people who work with her. We got home and Karal and I did a long, humid walk. It was only 80 degrees, but it was a sticky 80, so I was drenched. I washed up and then headed to Joanna's for the teacher celebration. Actually, I also watched a repeated World Cup game that I missed and ate delicious tacos. It as a warm night.

I appreciated the chicken coops, though, and their joy of watermelon rinds. Joanna often sends photos of the sunsets they get while out back in the evening...and it's a great location along the Trumbull skyline. I got to see one for myself last night as the little peckers worked on their fruit. Nice night to say so long to a school year (of course, now I pick up all the kids in summer programs).

And inhale.

That's the Problem with Summer. It's Simply Too Easy to Hop on the Grill and Find a Way to Gather with Others.

I had grandiose plans for being a loner on Sunday, which I did until later afternoon when I was hungry and I hinted I want people to take me...
