Beautiful Weddings in June (for Two of My Students of Yesteryear) and Safely Home from Crazy NY/CT Traffic so Today I Can Unwind

Happy Father's Day. This is Papi Butch (Karal Sleeping Beside Him) when my dad told me he was going to bed, but snuck out with another slide of cinnamon cake. I love when he helps himself and seems to eat from a place of enjoyment. I took this before I left and if you look closely, he is clean cut, shaved, and without his hillbilly appearance.

The wedding we attended was outside Rochester in the beautiful hills of southern NY...just north of NYC. The facility wouldn't let us in because they were running late, and the bathrooms turned out to be nice. Was a little weirded out by the service of the facility, but understood why one might choose the backdrop. Rebecca was a student of mine during Covid and her Aunt Shirley, who I love dearly, raised her. Although I had another student graduating on the opposite side of CT at the same time near the water, I opted for friends, knowing that the Walnut Beach Crew would make great wedding companions. Anyone who knows me, knows that weddings drive me bonkers.

The bride was beautiful, the sun extremely hot during the outdoor service, and the company with good vibes. They didn't bring out the dinners until after 9 p.m. and, for some reason, played all the dance music before everyone ate. To say we were hungry was an understatement. They also had a guy emcee and liven the crowd, but he was a little too much and never quite got to a place of success.

We did eventually have filet mignon, and it was good. The traffic on the way was horrible, but the way back was simply windy...the NY roads needed some taxpayer love (not sure whey this is the way outside NYC, because they tend to be really nice everywhere else.

Today, I'm writing, mowing, cleaning, gardening, and taking it easy. I will ride to where the day takes me...with no rush to do anything, as I've really been out of the house and on the go for over two weeks. It will be a nice day to unwind and take one second at a time.
