The Brain Never Felt Like Working Yesterday No Matter How Much I Tried. I Finally Through in the Towel Around 7 PM. Called It a Night

I must celebrate the fact that I actually had a meal. Yesterday and today were pretty much sloppy eating because there was no space to actually cook or eat. When I came home from campus, I itched around to see if anyone wanted to go out (my plans were canceled), but everyone seemed to be in dreary mode like me. Then I thought about a chicken gyro, looked to Paradise down the street, sure enough they had them, and the rest is history. I actually think I perked up a bit once there was food in my system.

And it came with a salad. Yay.

I had meetings with the Center of Climate, Coastal, and Marine Studies and learned the State Grant should be on its way for this year. That's always good because I can reach out to schools with ideas. I got intrigued about a possible collaboration with a colleague in English about Lil' Liberia, a location Lossine and I stumbled upon when we first arrived to this area in 2011. I've not jumped into the history much and in quick searches realize it's almost forgotten history...the Black mariner life is southern Connecticut.

Inspired by Sea of Lemon Trees, I'm wondering if there's a verse novel needing to be written. I'm also wondering if it might be a multi-year project, beginning first with K-12 schools to help me learn more about neighborhoods, history, connectivity, and what resources local government is putting forth to salvage the knowledge (if anything at all).

I suppose the best success of the day that just was came through signing a contract with a writer I can't wait to bring to CT in the Spring. Now I need to plan accordingly to make it the most worthwhile project as I can.

But back to the chicken gyro....definitely the best choice of the day.

Well, hello, October. Glad to see you again.
